Fulford Arms

What's it good for?

Diverse live music and acts, great beer, excellent pizza, and bar billiards galore.

Where is it?

I seem to have started this site by visiting a slew of pubs that have had recent refurbishments so I thought I'd continue that theme with The Fulford Arms, just a short walk up Fulford Road from town (or jump on the 7 bus as it stops outside).

A complete refit has turned this from a pub cramming live music into the corner of the bar into a purpose built venue that can be used for a variety of events while retaining the feel of a local. Its location out of town means it has a huge beer garden that hosts BBQs during the summer months and lack of neighbours enables it to host amplified bands without fear of complaints leading to the noise police banging on the door like so many town centre venues have fallen prey to.

What's it all about?

Where to start? There is so much to say about the Fulford Arms, but I'll start by advising to check their social media to see what's on as you might end up paying to watch a burlesque show, listening to some free local music, or playing in a bar billiards tournament on one of the two tables, the variation of what's on is staggering and wonderful.

A heady mix of drinks, food and entertainment can draw you in and popping in for "a quick half" can end up turning into a whole night out.

What's on the bar?

With six pumps of very well kept beer, the Fulford Arms has quickly become a favourite for finding a nice pint of ale. Stowford Press, Carling, Grolsch, Guinness and Jack Rabbit wines complete the usual set.

Do they serve food?

A sextet of tenuous music pun monikered pizzas (It's a Kind of Margherita, Seafood Calling, Sgt. Pepperoni's Oniony Hearts, etc.) are the stars of the show, easily matching those at The Hop. Burgers and sandwiches complete the tasty but gluten laden menu.

Is it accessible / allow kids / dogs?

A new ramp at the front door has vastly improved accessibility, on my last visit there was a table who had brought two young kids and three dogs, I'll take that as a yes for kids and dogs.

Will you go again?

That's for certain. Yes.

Opening Hours

I have no idea, their website is a bit hit-and-miss when it comes to pages that work. It doesn't seem to be open during the day mid-week.
