What's on offer?

There was a wide selection of four different meats on offer alongside The Woodman's main menu.

What worked?

The beef was perfect, I can't praise it enough. Wonderfully thin slices of beautifully prepared topside, pink in the middle, well rested, and warm throughout.

Each dish comes with a portion of roast potatoes and an individual veg pot on the side with a nice big selection of greens and other veg.

The garlic swede mash was a particular favourite of mine one I'd found it hidden under the rest of the veg and it went well with the single Yorkshire pud.

What didn't work?

The pub was extremely busy (which in my view is a great thing! Make sure you book though) but that did lead to a wait of over an hour between getting our first round of drinks brought to the table and our meal finally arriving. Good excuse for a second pint, but still a long time to wait.

The strength of the star anise / caraway in the carrots was probably too strong and proved divisive with half the table loving them and the other finding them spoil the veg pot. Minor issue though!

More Yorkshire's please! Although a wonderfully cooked and tasty Yorkshire pud, it's a little'un.
